I was curious to see if others have had this problem and maybe have a solution??

I have a Lite-ON LVW-1105HC DVD recorder. It's not the greatest, but I have never had problems with it. Now whenever I try to record something off my Dish Network HD satellite box, I get "fuzziness" on the screen -- just for a few seconds here and there. It's not throughout an entire program; just enough to be totally annoying.

I have the recorder hooked to the TV via component cables, and the recorder hooked to the cable box via the RF jack. I feel like I have tried numerous configurations, including the one in my recorder's manual. No flames please! :o

Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice? Do I need to unhook everything and start at square one?

See if sketch #2 in this help file will help? (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=12298409&postcount=10)

I will give it a shot, wajo.

The recorder plays discs fine. I have the feeling it has something to do with the dual tuner. The video I am watching/recording is from the second tuner on the box. However, when I watch video on that second TV, it is fine... just not on the first TV, if that makes sense.

It is killing me because I am trying to make DVDs to ship to someone that's deployed overseas. I am sure they will be happy, but probably don't want the fuzzies!

I think there are some Dish receivers that have TV1 and TV2 outputs, and I've read that only TV1 outputs send a 16:9 widescreen signal so it's apparently the "better" signal. So, if yours has those two outputs, try both with S-Video+L/R audio to your DVDR?

You didn't say, so I need to ask, do you get this same fuzziness if the Dish receiver is connected directly to the television, with no other components connected to anything? This "test" should be done on both outputs of the receiver. Is it channel dependent, or does it happen on all channels? Is it more noticeable during fast-moving content, or scene changes? It could be an artifact of Dish increasing the compression.

wajo: I have not tried your tweaks yet. That is my weekend project!

Church AV Guy: That is what puzzles me. When everything is hooked up for viewing, tuner 1 is for living room, tuner 2 is for bedroom. All work fine; no fuzzies. I can also view DVDs using this player... also no fuzzies.

However, when I set it up to record, I have been doing it via tuner 2. When I do that, I can no longer view tuner 2 on the bedroom TV, but I can on the living room TV (on another channel). That is where I get the fuzzies. As I mentioned, it's not non-stop... it's never at the same "points" in a movie; it's random. Totally annoying though.

I think I need to unhook everything and start at square 1. Hopefully this will work. Wish me luck... otherwise, I will be back!

I just wanted to let you both know that I did figure it out -- no thanks to Dish! I contacted tech support twice. Each time, the solution did not work. I love when they try to convince you that something is wrong with your cables...

Anyway, I hooked the DVD player directly to the TV, as usual, via component. I also have it hooked to the sat. box via the AV inputs in the front of the DVD recorder. I got a bad result hooking them to the AV inputs in the back. Go figure.

Just wanted to let you know the problem was solved and thank you both for responding. Happy holidays!

OK... I guess I spoke too soon. There much be something up with my player or the box or whatever. I have tried every possible way to hook up everything up. I give up! Thanks anyway.
