View Full Version : have $14k budget for 2 flat panel custom install? which models
undermined 11-20-08, 05:56 PM Ok, here is the deal, one of my great aunts has to spend 14k for 2 TV's installed because she has already paid in advance prior to her house being built but never picked a model, and that was a few years back (2-3 year).
So her credit is for $14,000 dollars, since at the time large flat panels were 8k or so.
Now I don't want here to get screwed by the dealer by them giving here a cheap set and pocketing the diffrence, but in the $14k price range for 2 tv installed there seems to still be a lot of cash left over even for 2 kuro's installed by my estimates.
Which models are "The Best" on the market because I'm not familiar with super high end models, hell my monitor is a westinghouse lvm-37w1 and I paid ~$1600 for it a few years back, so I don't even know what would justify such a price range.
Nicktx27 11-20-08, 06:13 PM I'd say get two 60inch Pioneer elites

will she marry me?? lol
gmarceau 11-20-08, 06:23 PM 2 50" pioneer kuro signature monitors, 101s. That would probably be the best out there. The 60" models, 141s, might go over that budget.
You could also do two 55" Sony xbr8s, not sure what you can get them for under list. The 46" would definitely go under that figure, but might be too small.
Also, you could manage a 52" Sharp xs-1 and add in a 50" 5020 Kuro non-elite. That might just make it under your figure.
LCDs would be good for day time viewing in bright rooms, but the best plasmas, like the Pioneer Kuros can handle day time viewing pretty much just as well. Are there plans for a basement/home theater section of the house? Plasma would excel in that darker environment.

That's right, two 60" elites, would be stellar.
Fanaticalism 11-20-08, 06:32 PM Two Pioneer Pro151's. No reason to @ick around. The budget is there, get the best. Not to mention, she'll have a few bucks to spare. :)
ccotenj 11-20-08, 08:08 PM one more vote for two 151's... you have the budget, might as well get the best...
undermined 11-20-08, 09:51 PM Yeah, so it does seem 2 elite 151's should do the trick for her.
Personally I'd get a projector but it isn't my choice or money, and she wants "one of those ones that mount on a wall."
I don't even think she has a HD source to take advantage of such a awesome display, but it' either get the best available or have the dealer pocket the difference, and at least in the future she can always get a source.
Thanks for the input guys.
