I've bought a Harmony One to reduce the ridiculous number of remotes on my counter. However, there's a bit of a logistics problem with it because my TV is in the front of the room, my entertainment center/devices are in the back left corner, and the projector is back center (grand total of 6 devices). I would like to be able to pick up an IR extender that will allow me to point my Harmony at it and operate all the devices via macros and stuff. There is a lot of distance between many of the devices. The projector is 10ft high and about 10ft over from the entertainment center. Thus, a 25ft cable would probably be necessary (can any old 3.5mm male-female extender work? Even cheap ones?). The TV is probably needs just about as long a cable. The remaning 4 devices are in the entertainment center.
As of now I'm looking at the Xantech 291KIRP set, buying 2 double-blinkers, and 2 25ft 3.5mm cables. Gonna cost me about $150 and that's really the most I'm willing to spend on it. Will that work and do so pretty effectively?
I figure I can mount the receiver in the back corner near the entertainment center (which is next to the couch) and then run the cables to their necessary locations.
