I recently purchased a Canon Vixia HF100 (my first digital camcorder), and I was wondering if there was any way that I could use it as a webcam, so that I can use Skype, etc. ;)
Thanks for any and all help, and truly appreciate this forum.

nope :) cant be done
Well, "can't be done" is such a strong statement! It can't be done without additional hardware... but, with an HDMI capture card and appropriate software, you'll have a pretty kick-ass webcam in your hands. :)
Of course, for the price of an HDMI card, you can buy an HD webcam, but I guess it won't be nearly as good as what HF100 produces.

it is strong hence the smiley....but chances are (with all the above periphs)you wont be able to stream FULL HD let alone anything more than 1440 X 1080....
I have an HD webcam...the Logitech Ultra Vision SE....the thing wont allow me to video chat in HD though...

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll just spring for the webcam. Seems like the cheapest (and least hassle) option. :(
The bottom line is you will have a nice webcam but you will
be limited to what skype allows for video.
I bought a device called EasyCap. Takes in composite video and audio
and converts it to a USB output. This would be the yellow, red and white
colored connectors, not high def. It works great with skype,
ustream. This will work on any composite video and audio output.
