Hello guys,
I'm thinking about getting the sharp 65d64U 65" LCD. Great response times, good CR and a nice size. Unfortunately i have been using a 77" (projector) screen for my pc monitor for about 3 months now, and am afraid going down to 65 will be to small. My question is will the Start menu and fonts be readable at 12-13 feet away through a 65" 1920x1080 desktop?
Why don't you just size down the display of your projector to 65" and see for yourself?
Totally useless comment: damn that's a big display for a computer. I prefer small myself.

I have had this running for about 18months now in UK, its a Sharp LC-65GD1E, so same size as the one you are thinking about.
I sit some 12feet away from the screen and find that at 1920x1080 its a bit too small to be comfortable after loads of experiments use 1360x768 for general desktop stuff.
To playback HD material I use MPC and make sure that I have the Full 1920x1080 selected for full screen playback. This seems to work fine.
Hope this helps.

I am typing this reply on the same monitor from about 8 feet away. No bad at 1600x1200. I haven't figured out how to get it to use my laptop's native res of 1920x1200 yet.
Any ideas? Maybe I have to use the DVI connector on my laptop and convert it to the d-sub on the Sharp? Or maybe convert it to HDMI on the Sharp??

You may find this chart interesting and useful to determine sitting distance from various screen sizes at various resolutions.
I am using a pc with a dvi out graphics card, into a Denon amp that has hdmi inputs and out of the Denon amp using hdmi, into the dvi socket of the Sharp 65"
Hope this helps
