Hi Everyone, I've recently upgraded my PJ to the JVC HD100 (RS2 in the US?) - it certainly has been worth the wait ! Results from my Panny BD30 Bluray player over HDMI to the HD100 leave me wanting for nothing - holy c**p what an image this thing throws!! I know there will be those of you out there that would perhaps disagree but for me - well I am very happy. I was running my previous PJ (Sony 11HT) with an iScanHD analogue scaler set to output 1080i (over component) driven by a higher end Toshiba SD DVD player (SD9500) and at times this too produced great images- but nothing like the JVC.
The reason for this post is that with the same source, I'm unable to get the HD100 accepting 1080i signals over component. The best I can manage is 760p. I see from the JVC spec that the PJ should accept 1080i at 50&60Hz and am therefore puzzled by the lack of picture. The problem is that when there's no image on the screen the iScan OSD is not there either which makes matters doubly difficult. When it comes to adjustment of anything other than resolution/Hz I haven't a clue what I'm doing - there lots of further adjustments on the iScan which could be the "porch" adjustments I've only ever just heard talk of? But I guess what I'm asking is this - does anyone know why I'm having these problems and further - does anyone know what figures I should dial in to the iScan to make it work? I have been considering the new DVDO EDGE but that's another story. Over to you guys.................

I actually would NOT use the Iscan HD. The internal processor on the HD100 is better. Short answer...but simple solution.

Wow - thanks for the quick response Jason! But I spent SO much time making up that custom cable !! OK - So the iScanHD goes on Ebay. Have you had chance to evaluate the EDGE? I do like my old Toshiba DVD player - it provides great audio. I believe the EDGE could give me the PQ I'm looking for. If I take the Tosh out of the system, that leaves with me with the Panny which I'm using with HDMI hookup. HDMI locks out the aspect ratio control on the JVC (and leaves me with GREY bars) - and so once again, because I have several 4:3 discs in my collection, I need a scaler.......... or do I ?

Also I guess what I'm now beginning to realise is that I really need a hub - something to plug all my video sources into, have them scaled to the highest quality and sent over one (HDMI) cable.
