View Full Version : Reasonable Theater Seating

I just finished ordering a chair and a couch from Best Home Furnishings. These will fill out my theater room and the price was more than reasonable. Also, a lifetime warranty was included for the structure of the chairs. The fabric is a microfiber and warrantied for two years. The chair was $800.00 and the sofa was $900.00.

Now, let me tell you something about the chair. The chair was designed for Shaq and is called "The Beast". For your feet to touch the floor you have to be 6 foot 5 inches (which for me means, my feet will not touch the floor...which is perfect. This way I will not have to fight my way out and up, from a chair). The seat is designed like a mattress box spring. The chair is rated for a 400+ person 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, to live in. It also lies completely flat with no rocking.

The sofa is made for normal people and the reclining mechanism feels like hydraulic pumps are working the recliner.

I shopped for 3 days until I came across these. I went through Henredon, Lazy Boy, Lane and a host of others. I did not care what it cost (within reason...I don't need a skin from an exotic animal to "make my day!") but it had to be super-comfortable and take the rigors of a 240lb man. And for this price, I could not do better. Check out the beast...it will blow you away!

Just thought I would pass this on...I am retired (age 48) and do not own stock or am affiliated in any way with any of these companies. Just a theater fan who came across a good buy.

I'm getting more serious about my HT seat search.

Sorry I missed this.
The chair is made by Best Chair Company and is called "The Beast".

So far, it has been going strong and no complaints. Getting in and out, of the chair, is a dream. No exertion, whatsoever. The fabric has been great with no sign of wear. BTW, I am 6' and 244 lbs. So, i can really put a strain on a chair. This is by far the best purchase, yet.

Perhaps this is it?

I won't question the comfort of the chair, but from the picture on the website, definitely not the most attractive chair I've ever come across.

Here's a link to a PDF on this chair:

Here's another interesting chair by Best, a "Video-Cliner"

The "video cliner" reminds me of those chairs that sit on the floor, for playing video games. The one the kids use...lol...must be getting old.

I still can't believe I got this chair for 800.00. It was only 50.00 more than the top-of-the-line Lazy-boy. And I went to the store to get a Lazy-boy...but once I sat in the "Beast", that was all she wrote. If you get the chance you should check one out at a local dealer. I would almost suggest ordering one (sight unseen), but some people might find it disconcerting having their feet off the floor when sitting (since it is made for a tall person). But, I love that, since it allows me to get out of the chair without any exertion.
