SF @ Dallas, KTVU via Comcast. Other than a few jaggies on the yardlines at certain angles PQ is excellent. 1st & goal for SF as I write this.

SF vs. Dallas

Solid PQ, much improved from last weeks Buck/Aikman broadcast.

Solid PQ, much improved from last weeks Buck/Aikman broadcast.
There is a reason for this, not everything is equal between this week and last with this production.

Main cam looks a bit soft, some swimming grass. Nothing great, typical Fox stuff.

i know this has been asked many times, but what is the reason for the low score bar in the fox broadcasts? Especially now that they 'black it out' at the top...why have it that low?

Safe zone coverage stuff?

Safe Title zone. Has to be that low so those with tvs that don't show the whole picture will still see it.

that's what I figured...too bad they 'black it' out now...I preferred the the transparent honeycomb look of last year...

Just got a 42-inch Panasonic and the inferiority of the Fox PQ compared to CBS is more obvious.

Fox had always been soft on some shows like The OC on my 34XBR. But football games have looked okay or at least not so obviously bad.

But just looking at the studio pregame shows this week showed how bad Fox is, looking really no better than some SD channels.

What's odd are two things:

1) Their first HD games looked good, especially the way the red of the uniforms on the 49ers stood out. Has the PQ deteriorated over the years?

2) In the 49ers-Cowboys game, picture looks soft and it looks overcast in Texas stadium. No shadows, no areas of sunlight.

But in the second quarter, they showed a highlight of Owens' TD catch and run, using a different camera angle, which was more zoomed in. That picture was noticeably sharper, almost more film-like than video.

Why was that better and why couldn't they have that better picture from the regular cameras?

The Fox Studio show is SD Widescreen, the CBS show is HD.

Without seeing the actual video that you were seeing it would be hard to say. Close up are going to show more detail by their very nature. The second shot you were talking about may also have some from one of the super-slo-mo units which can have a different look and because they capture at a different frame rate it may appear to be different then one of the regular game cameras.

I wish the DirecTV Guide would stop marking the pregame show as HD...

Any other provider's guide incorrectly label the pregame show as HD?

BTW -

Dallas/San Fran game looks good on Fox here (apart from them breaking to game updates...)
OTA - WACH57 - Lexington, SC

Picture looks pretty good here on the Niners-Cowboys game. Some very minor dancing turf, but it's still one of the better Fox games. KDFW Dallas via FiOS.

2) In the 49ers-Cowboys game, picture looks soft and it looks overcast in Texas stadium. No shadows, no areas of sunlight.
And for good reason, since it's overcast here in Dallas ;). Had some rain overnight, and more predicted as the day moves on.

I'm sure the overcast weather is very much appreciated by the video guys, Texas Stadium without the harsh shadows does not look half bad.

The idiots at our local Cleveland CBS WOIO are dropping the Browns game to 4:3 SD so they can run a crawl promoting their lame postgame show from the local bar.

There's really nothing to discuss in a postgame show anyway. The entire Browns organization from top to bottom needs to be fired, after this pitiful performance today.

Thank God this is not a close game , otherwise Fox would have pulled another "Heidi Bowl" and cut the game to show the NYG/ARI game.

Considering you are watching WNYW, FOX by NFL rules would have to switch you to the NYG game. Don't blame FOX for following the NFL rules.

Watching NYG/ARZ on WJBK via Comcast in Detroit. Game looks good, slightly softer then the CBS game earlier, but still a solid looking production.

I was so looking forward to the undefeated Titans playing the winless Lions on Thursday.....

Grass looks great, limited blur/pixelation. Sharp closeups and somewhat active surround sound.

FOX just had a graphic with the Giants O-line, the background of diagonal lines kept on jumping back and forth rather then the smooth movement from one side to the other.

Slightly softer? Night and day difference if you ask me, so I agree with the two posters prior to you. It looks soft sitting 10+ ft from a 32", so you when you get to <10ft on 57" it is ugly. But it is about what I expect from FOX. Give me CBS, NBC and NFLNet....get rid of FOX and ESPN. :)

Watching OTA, KMSP in Minneapolis.

Craziest thing, watching NYG-ARI on Cablevision WNYW-5 and it looks pretty good in HD. I switched to OTA, which I do sometimes because it is almost always a little better, and instead it looks substantially worse. Very soft and lots of jaggies. The cablevision broadcast looks sharp and like legit HD. Unusual.

Yeah, the OTA feed seems far worse than what people are seeing on cable. My OTA looks horrible too, but cable looks fine...just about as good as FOX can look. Weird.

OTA looks better than E*, as usual for me. Slight but noticeable difference.

OAK @ DEN looks spectacular on D* NFLST. Viewing on a 50" 1080p plasma.

Nice to see a pristine CBS game without the bandwidth stealing weather subchannel of my local affiliate WOIO.

In rather convincing fashion, no less. Quite a game for the Jets, big win. The running game/O-line won it, with the Titans having the ball for less than 20 minutes.

"marginal" is being very kind. this is the third week in a row that the fox games ive watched have looked brutal....

redskins game looks awful....giants game looks almost as bad.

watching on rogers cable, sa 8300 box, pioneer 6010 in toronto.

looking forward to seeing what the nbc game looks like later tonight

I agree the Giants/Cards game is brutal. Close up's are nice but the main camera, it's not good here either. It's amazing the drop in PQ coming from the Pats/Dolphins game to this. Comcast Fox 25 Boston.

The night game can't come fast enough. I love NBC's Sunday nights game.

but I can not believe the Titans lost today.
I fully expected it as Brett Favre has the Jets playing some fantastic football. One of the best there ever was, and still is, thanks to the Jets ... and no thanks to the Packers.

If my team can't win it all I'd love to see the Jets and the iron man go all the way.

I'm glad someone confirmed that the Fox pregame show is widescreen SD. I've always thought it looked fuzzy.

Same goes for the Falcons vs Carolina here in Atlanta - looked like widescreen SD to me even though it was advertised HD. I meant to switch over to the OTA feed for comparison but never did. All the Fox games on Sunday Ticket looked much sharper.

I know, I was referring to the GB/TEN game a few weeks back when they switched when TEN was lining up for the GW FG in OT.

By the way, bad move by Andy Reid, benching your starting QB at halftime when just trailing by 3.
