I've got a Phillips DVD player with HDMI out and a PC with HDMI out. I'm trying to go across two 45' HDMI cables to two 42" LCD TVs. Each one works perfectly across the cables. I bought an inexpensive Apogee 4x2 Matrix switch but I can't get it to work reliably. I can get one input to work and output to one of the TVs, but as soon as I add the second TV, I get no output on either outputs. I order an inexpensive inline HDMI booster from Amazon.com and put them right at the output of the switcher, but it's still not working. If my cables work perfectly when connected straight to the DVD and/or PC, doesn't that mean the cables are good? Please tell me what I need to properly set up a switch to work. My two 45' HDMI cables are install through a floor and wall and can not be redone at this point. I really want a matrix switch, but I will just manually swap cables if I could just get a good splitter on each device.

It could be some sort of handshake problem with the matrix switch. Those types of problems can be difficult to solve. Often it's a design problem with the switch or TVs where they don't handle the HDMI handshake properly. There may be no solution other than to try a different matrix switch or try a 4:1 switch in front of a 1:2 splitter.

Normally HDMI extenders/boosters go at the end of the cable not the beginning (they correct the signal distortions caused by the cable high frequency rolloff). Did you check the instructions for the booster on this?
