I currently have a rather old Sony Hi8 camcorder (320k pixels) that I just started using again to tape my son kicking for his football team to send to college coaches and I'm rather unhappy with the PQ when shown on my 55" widescreen using the s-video cable.
So I'm wondering how much better the PQ would be with say a digital SD Canon FS10 that has 1.07 MP? Is the Canon going to be close to DVD quality? Can anyone report on what this camcorder's PQ is on a 55" or so HDTV?
Of course I can't test drive the camera at home so I'm hoping to get some idea of how much better the PQ will be from you guys. :)
I don't really want to spend the money to get an HD camera - my kids are already in high school and I don't anticipate using the camcorder much (if at all) once they graduate. So the sub $400 price for the FS10 is much more appealling than over $700 for an HD one.
Thanks in advance!!
