i'm about to decide on my first projectore, and have already spent weeks on this forum.

first i was hesitating between the sony hw10 and the pana ae3000 but as the pana is about 700 dollars more expensiven than the sony in europe, i was about to settle for the sony.

Now my retailer can get me a jvc rs1 for roughly the same price as the sony. i know that this model is discontinued by jvc but it looks like they're selling their stock, price of 2700$.

how does this 'old' jvc compare to the sony or pana. will i still be able to get a replacement lamp next year ?

man, sometimes ignorance is bliss, and i wish i had never come across this forum;)

any help

Is that the older RS1U, or RS1X? I only ask because that will make a difference on how good a price that is.

But, I would say you are on target with the Sony. I think considering it is cheaper than the Panny, and overall better in my opinion, it is the no brainer. The RS1 will have better native contrast, but overall I think the Sony gives you more.

thx guys for your reply.

it's actually a rs1U.

@jmouse : the sony vw60 around my place (belgium that is) still retails for around 5000$ which is to steep for me;-), but thx for your input

RS1U is not a great deal for that price...I would stick with the others.

An nicely priced RS2 would be a compelling alternative to the HW10, but I believe you would prefer the HW10 over the RS1.
