hey everybody...

i'm poking around, looking for the best possible programmable remote control to control all my equipment. I know of the Harmony One Advanced, as well as Universal's MX-900/MX-980 remotes.

but i'd like to know from owners or ppl that have used these, which one would work best and is easiest to get up and running ?

for example, i get the impression that both brands offer programming ability, so that i can plug them onto my pc, load the device i want it to control, and be done....
however i'm not 100 % on these' remotes compatibility and usage.
As a company, I have not found it easy to get in touch with logitech for pre-sales questions, so I'm not going to go buy first, find out later

the equipment in question will be:

panasonic TH-46PZ800U
panasonic DMP-BD35K
denon AVR-2808CI (or 3808CI)
Cablevision HD box (or DVR)
Dish Network SD box (not HD)

as i said, i'm under the impression that these remotes can be simply loaded with the device i want it to control, and have full functionality...

what happens in the case of special features, such as the Veria Link button ?

i'm also looking to stay below $ 250 for the remote....

thanks in advance

You shouldn't have a problem controlling your equipment with any universal remote. The only thing you should double check is the DISH box because I think some of their receivers are RF only, not IR. Assuming that it is IR then you'll be OK. The special buttons may all be programmed to the LCD screen at the top of the remote. This is what I call "SOFT" keys - buttons that can change depending on what page in the remote you're on.

I am also looking at getting a universal remote. I put together a comparison on unfuse to help differentiate the Logitech and Universal remotes. Any other remotes I should consider? I have fairly standard equipment bought in the last 10 years - Sony DVD Player, JVC TV, Denon Receiver, and TiVo.

What I've done on unfuse so far:

That unfuze comparison seems like a pretty cool idea but I found it a bit clunky to use. I tried to leave some feedback with links to relevant reviews I did. You should also consider the availability of the programming software with the URC remotes.
