I am interested in a 50" 720 plasma TV for under $1000. I have been looking at the Samsung PN50A450 and the Panasonic Viera TH-50PX80U. Are there any others worth considering? Should I go with the Samsung or the Panasonic? Thanks for any help.

Welcome to avs forums and the panasonic would be the best recommended tv amog third the samsung and the first being pioneer if you can budge to buy at a higher price.

I would go for a 720p panasonic when it comes to good quality for the price of a sub 1k price. or i would go to the pioneer price and never look back (atleast 4yrs from now)

No matter what price range you specify, you will be advised to spend more.

I just got my daughter the PX80 so I can't really be objective but my thinking was that the Panny has Better Blacks, Better Sound Quality, Less IR & most of all Better Build Quality & Parts & Service.
