I've lurked for a long time but this is my first post.

I am looking to buy a Panasonic TH-42PZ80U. My goal is to spend $1000 or less for a 40-42" rig that will give me the ability to play PC games at 1920x1080 -- that's the primary reason for wanting a 1080p TV, though I'll likely buy a PS3 or some other bluray player soon.

Question: this doesn't have a PC input, but I'm guessing I can grab a DVI-HDMI converter and plug my PC in that way. My video card is a GeForce 8800gt, if that matters.

Appreciate any help in advance.

Hi,

There is a long thread on this topic. Apparently the 42PZ80U has problems if the hdmi connector from the PC is plugged into hdmi ports 1 or 2 (I believe). The side port is OK, or so it seems. On the 42PX80U the front hdmi port is OK. As I gather, one can use any hdmi port if an hdmi extender is placed between the DVI-HDMI cable and the hdmi port on the TV.

Hope this helps! I recommend you find the thread and read through it.

You might check out the Costco Panasonic TH-C42FD18...same as the TH-42PZ80U, but with a PC input and a matte bezel...and fits your budget.
I know nothing of PC resolutions available.
Good luck
