I have the older model Streamer Sirius radio in my car....recently i purchased a smaller model to put on my dash. it wasn't very far from the radio at all and I put the tuner on 89.7 FM! I got lots of interference from other stations surprisingly. Plus the signal from the Sirius transmitter and to my receiver sounded like crap. So i took it back to Walmart and put my old Streamer back in the car. funny thing is, it won't let me subscribe to the Best of XM package because according to the Sirius webpage, my radio is not compatible! Any ideas on this?

Because of a FCC ruling the FM modulator/transmitter in the new XM and Sirius units stink. They won't transmit 3-4 feet.

You can go back and buy that newer unit then A) if your car radio has an AUX in or cassette player use either of them to connect to your headunit or B) if your HU/radio doesn't have either of those inputs buy an external FM mod/transmitter. Everyone carries them now. C) XM units now come with something called a 'Sure Connect'. It's a work around to FM Modulation. Look it up, there's no reason that shouldn't work with a Sirius unit. EDIT..Actually now that I think about it there maybe a reason it won't work. I think the satellite antenna has to connect to this Sure Connect, since the Sirius and XM antenna connections are different then maybe it won't work with a Sirius unit. Look it up, I'm sure there's plenty of info on the net.

I've kept mine over concern for this also (three year old starmate).
