I just purchased a 42" pz80u plasma for my inlaws and after one perfect day of HDTV the tv has "tinted" red. When the tv is turned on and no input is being driven to the tv the screen is red. When a signal is driven via hdmi or even compsit the black areas are red. All inputs act the same way. Power cycling the tv by unplugging it has no affect.
I'm going to assume that it needs to be returned, but is this a common problem?

I'm going to assume that it needs to be returned, but is this a common problem?I can't remember seeing anyone post about such a problem so it must not be common. I presume you have adjusted the settings in the user menu to correct this? Maybe try setting the color temp to COOL if you're currently using Warm, and try using the STANDARD or CUSTOM Picture mode if you're using CINEMA.
But if like you say the TV was perfect the first day and now suddenly it's red, then yeah the TV probably developed a problem.
You might want to post this in the Plasma forum where you'll get more views - this forum is not read much.

I called Panny and they said it sounded like a video board issue. They offered to send a tech out to fix it, but I just took it back to the place I bought it and swapped it for another one. Works great now and looks great. I have to say, I'm very impressed compared to my Pioneer 6020, this TV is a great deal.
