I have a pioneer elite dv-79avi and a new elite vsx-92txh receiver and I am wondering if I should pass the 79avi through the receiver with component at 720p and let the receiver upconver to 1080p or just send it as 1080i through the receiver to my panny pt-ae3000u 1080p projector. (92txh will only upconvert 720p or lower through component inputs, hdmi is not upconverted) I also have apple tv that is native 720p Should I let apple tv up convert to 1080p and send it through hdmi or or let the 92txh do it through component. Use what looks best to you. In general, the fewer conversions the better. What happens when you send 480i to the receiver and let it upconvert? Also, can't the receiver just "pass thru" the video, i.e. no video processing?
