Ok so my old arcade with 20g HD broke, rather then renew the warrenty or even try to get it repaired I went ahead and got an elite

My question is, without the transfer cable MS gives you, how else can I go about transferring the files?

Can't you just put the Hard Drive from your arcade version onto the new Elite?

But I guess you want to transfer it all to the Elite's 120gb hard drive...hmmmm...what if you put all your data onto a Memory card and then put the memory card into the Elite Xbox and transfer from the memory card tot he new hard drive...is that possible?

You really should just get the transfer cable. If you have the serial number for both the new and old console, Microsoft will provide it to you free of charge. Any other solution is... less than ideal.

Note that when using the transfer cable, it will completely blank the new drive, then move the contents of the old drive to the new drive. After this completes, the old drive will be blanked. Hence, you should probably use your old drive until you receive the transfer cable to prevent loss of content when the data on the new drive is deleted.

Without the cable there is no way to transfer everything. That is what the cable is for. Why would you not want to use the cable?

No, it's proprietary. Pop the HD off your Xbox 360 and take a look at the connector. Does it look like a standard USB connector? :)

They are very prompt in sending the cable out. Usually only takes less than a week to arrive. Just fax in the form and it'll arrive sometime next week.

I got my cable within a few days of faxing the form in. I'd suggest filling out the form, faxing it in and then see how long it takes for "you" to get it. For me.....I think it was 4 or 5 days.

You're... unable to open the official Xbox site, so you printed it from a random site instead, and that copy of the form doesn't show the fax number? Sounds like you may have printed a bogus or invalid copy of the form. Better to fix whatever is wrong with your web browser or your Adobe Acrobat setup.

It only works for a 20GB to 120GB transfer. It won't do 60GB to 120GB and it won't go backwards either.
