RezHD is about the only one that seems decent. Heard good things about it but not much about the other Arcade games.

Hmm... US only, boo. I'm only interested in the Castle Crashers Theme though, it looks pretty sweet, though I've never purchased themes or gamerpics before, for 180 points I might.

So I wonder if I download it on my US account, if my Canadian account will have access to it? It works for games, not sure about themes....

If you don't buy Rez HD for the offered 500 points, then there is something seriously wrong with you.

Can't you buy online if you already have a LIVE account?

New feature of the NXE. Buy stuff over the interwebs and it will download when you next connect your 360 to Live.

Nice, thanks! Didn't realize you could do that. I may be picking up an Arcade on Friday anyway so I might just be able to download it right from the dashboard. :)

For those who were on the fence, "Death Magnetic" at a discount seems like a deal. The songs are all about 7 mins in length as well, so plenty of gameplay and it works with GH3 & GHWT.

Yep, anything you buy on your console with a US account can be used/viewed by any other accounts on that same 360 (whatever region they're from).

Think I might pick up Brain Challenge. It's a pretty good Big Brain Academy type game. I had fun with the demo.

Well, Black Friday is a US custom.

It is hella lame considered how the prices almost never drop on XBL and they are pretty high already (even 180pts for a theme is about 150 points too many). This is Microsoft for ya this gen, the same MS that charges over a dollar a gigabyte for a hard drive and $90 for a wireless adapter in the year 2008.

I say every game on XBLA older than a year should be at 400 points.

I say every game on XBLA older than a year should be at 400 points.

SEGA would go with that.
But the smaller indie developers would starve.
So, yeah; if you want nothing but Frogger2 and the like on XBLA...

Trouble is most of us would rather pay 800 points and get *good* stuff rather than *cheap* stuff.
A lot of the best games on XBLA aren't viable at less than 800.
(Do you really think the market for Catan or Carcassone or Dominoes or Cloning Clyde is *that* big?)

You can make a case for (finer-grained and) lower pricing on the XNA Community Games but XBLA games are generally fairly priced.

No, and I don't think many people right now in November 2008 and beyond are interested in paying $10 for a 2.5 year old platformer like Cloning Clyde. I think they could come ahead just on volume.

To be reasonable, I don't think every game should hit that mark (Braid, for example, could go to 800, or whatever), but I also don't like how online distribution has ruined discounted prices. Just earlier this morning it was possible to pick up Left 4 Dead on PC from Amazon for $20. It won't be that price on Steam for years.

Ooooh a sale on virtual content!

Its amazing what Microsoft has done. They put this little box in our living rooms that charges us money. Then they put a black friday sale out to get folks to buy more. Like its a 'deal'. lol.

Agree 100%. It's digital! They're shooting themselves in the foot, all these stupid MBA types dreaming this crap up. If they had paid attention in those MBA lectures they'd know that selling 1,000,000 units at $5 each is, um, just a BIT more profitable than selling only 250,000 units at $10 each. Some people at MS need to read the book The Long Tail. It's funny you reference Amazon, as they very much are a Long Tail retailer. Get with the program Microsoft! You can actually make your customers happy AND increase your profits. Welcome to the digital era. You know, the one you think you created? You should try cashing in on it....

At least Black Friday sales on Live don't kill people.

Yea and I bet 90% of the people barging in there couldn't even afford whatever Chinese made crap they were about to buy and were just gonna put it on plastic.

These people are barbarians. All of them. Including Wal-Mart, who doesn't bother to spend some money to make a line and hire a few rent a cops to make sure people are in check. *******s.

I gotta say these games are pretty lame, I tried the Res Demo a little while back and it wasnt for me, I will give it another try today just to make sure since I have a ton of MS points and everyone seems to love it, maybe it is me.

Two things. First of all, I'm pretty sure that MS knows whether or not they are making money on these games, and what dropping prices does to their sales. I'm not certain why someone with no visibility into their business would think that they know better how to make money in Microsoft's business than Microsoft.

Second of all, they also have to get the buy in from the game developer and publisher if they want to drop the prices on these already cheap games.
