It just died one day. Now when I turn it on, it comes on for a second or two with sound but no picture and then shuts off. When it is on, the power light blinks in weird orders, is it giving a code? I'm thinking similar to a POST beep on a computer. Does a certain amount of blinks in a certain order mean something?

Could be the tube, flyback transformer or video circuitry that's gone pop. My money would go on the flyback.
The blinking probably does indicate a code, but the only way of finding it out is a service manual. I'll see if i can dig one up. Edit: I got it, and i must say it's a well-detailed manual. :D I uploaded the Troubleshooting part of the manual which i believe is of most interest to you. If you need anything else i'll upload the full manual. No blink code definitions i'm afraid, but a detailed troubleshooting process is described.
I hope you have a multimeter. ;)
HA! I thought I had a multi-meter, time to go invest in one. That is fairly detailed. And by failry, I mean absurdly. Could you get me a schematic diagram as well? I could probably benefit from the full manual as well. Thanks so much, I appreciate it.
Time to do some learning!

No need to spend too much on a meter, a $10 one will do just fine. However if you can go with a higher quality unit, do it, the leads on the cheap ones tend to break quite often.
Here you have the full manual: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?eydmm25ymzi
Sorry for the number of PDFs inside the archive, that's how i got it. Schematics are in part 9, and a full parts list (!!!) is in part 7. I have to say Sammy did a really nice job on this manual.
Good luck! :)

Him, how did you make out with your TV? I've got the same unit and am having the same problems as of last week?
