I saw a website that advertised Firmware updates for Sony TVs.
They claimed to sell an update for the Sony KV40XBR800- but there is no info provided.

Is there actually an update and does anyone have it?

How would I put an update into the TV and are there any risks?

Thanks, DeadSonyScott

ps- I just soldered sockets in my KV40XBR800 D board and expect new chips in the mail this week.

I don't know of any firmware. Your set may differ from mine (32HS510) though they are similar. Mine has no data input port. When your chips arrive, you might have to carefully bend the pins more vertical from "/ \ to | |" so they plug into the sockets "easily but firmly". Also, watch out for the notch orientation (black dots on board) is correct when installing. Good luck with your repair!

I'm a member of the MyMPxPlayer forums, which are dedicated to giving info, tools, themes and various enhancements for Chinese portable media players, iPod clones, and things of the like. Generally whoever tries to do a firmware update on those posts in the "Dead Players" section right after that. Therefore i do not recommend updating, especially if there is no info about it.

You said the chips are socketed - well, in that case it's probably worth trying since it could always be reverted.

Those sockets are not for programmable chips. I agree with avoiding firmware updates.
