Now that BB doesn't offer the Product Replacement Plan and Microsoft has a 3 year warranty for RROD is there a best place to buy a Xbox 360 or does it matter anymore? Any brick and mortar stores have a better return/exchange policy?

I didnt know BB wasnt doing that anymore. My Xbox has started to get finicky with reading some of my disks, some take multiple times to read. I think Walmart is probably as good as any place I you can get their plan for 19.99.

It would be foolish to buy any type of extra warranty for an Xbox. Microsoft has been good about replacing them when they break.

I would have to say Costco. I bought my pro bundle about 2.5 years ago for $500 and last month it stopped displaying video. Took it back and got the new 60GB bundle for $350 +$150 back. Took that $150 and put it towards the Ion Drum Rocker. Cant beat that.

I agree about Costco. Until they change their return policy for video game systems to match that of PC's & TV's - they are hands down the best place to buy an Xbox system. It's even worth paying the $40-50 membership fee if you aren't already a member to join and buy it imo.

Only problem is you lose anything on the hardrive. Will they let you switch the HD if you had the same size?

They would have let me swap HDDs but the new one came with a 60GB and mine was the old 20GB HDD. I used my memory card and saved what I needed. I went online and did the license transfer and redownloaded all of my DLC.

You can find some deals on a used 20GB hard drive and give them that one and keep your old one. After doing the HDD transfer you can sell your 20GB HDD to recoup some of the money spent on the other 20GB HDD.

Does Costco carry the most recently manufactured Xbox 360s? Or put another way do they carry fewer of the most recently manufactured Xbox 360s than other B & M stores? I want a Jasper Xbox 360 and all I see at Costco online are the Holiday bundles with Kung Fu Panda and Lego Indiana Jones, which I read do not have the Jasper chipset.

man, you guys crack me up. there's been like what, a handful of Jasper's posted so far, and so far they'v only been spotted as Arcade models and Costco doesn't sell Arcade 360's...

and you get the lifetime return policy, so what difference does it make which version you're getting, you can return it if it breaks. the most recent one i've seen there recently is the Pro bundle with the 2 free games and the 60gig HDD, with the extra controller and play and charge for $349.99...

Yup, Thats the bundle I picked up. With their generous return policy no need to worry. Just hold on to everything it came with in case you have to return it.

That's the one I would get. It's basically the Holiday Bundle for $299.99 plus you get an extra controller and play and charge for $50, which I believe is cheaper than buying them separately. The other bundles were more expensive compared to buying the Holiday Bundle and game separately.

Mines did not. Since I didn't have many saves that I cared about, not a big deal.

I refused to buy a memory card since I would only be using it for that reason. In my mind, that would be rewarding MS even further. If it happens to me again, I'll get the Elite first, transfer, then return the broken one.

i got their first shipment of 60gig bundles, so i missed out on the 2 free games, but i have no desire to play either of them so it's no big loss to me. i wouldn't want to sell them even if i did get them, since if i do have a problem i would have to return them with the system anyway. i did manage to sell the extra controller and plug and play to a co-worker though, because i have no use for them and they come with every bundle, so if i ever do need to return my system i can just take them out of the bundle that will replace it. i do wish they were like Sam's Club though, and had either just the Pro system without accessories for $298 and/or at least some type of Elite system or bundle...

and sorry for the babble...

just to let you know, they have a GOW2 bundle online for $389.99 with free shipping, which is the regular bundle (with the 60gig HDD, the 2 free games, the extra controller and the play and charge) with GOW2. it's a great deal if you plan on getting GOW2 anyway...

i haven't seen it in stores yet, and i doubt it will be in stores until after X-Mas, because that's what they did with the COD4 bundles last year...
