I have a hitachi P50A402 and love it, I haven't used a DVE disk, (because I don't have one) and i've got the settings to where i think they are really good. I know it's all personal preference, but does anyone have any settings they think i should try? all ideas are welcome

FYI, calibration is not about getting your display to look good. That may be one effect, but calibration is about getting your display to adhere as closely as possible - within the confines of the display's limitations and calibration controls - to established standards like D65, SMPTE-C or REC 709.

If you want your display to look pretty - like it does in B&M stores, with crushed whites and blacks, neon colors, eye-frying light output, and picture enhancement controls maxed out creating artifacts galore - then you're right, it's personal preference. The process of display calibration, while it does require certain judgement calls, has little to do with personal preferences.
