SAMSUNG LN52A850 $2,299.98 w/ free Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player

or

Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ800U $1,881.04

I am about ready purchase the Samsung combo and want to know if there is anyone who can talk me out of it. I currently have Samsung LN-T4065f and am looking to upgrade. I already have a great sound system. I want to complete it with the best HDTV between $1500 to $2500. I watch a lot of HD sports via dishnetwork and Bluray movies via PS3. I don't know much about plasmas. I would appreciate some suggestions before making this purchase.

personally, i would buy the panny pdp. the sammy is definitely not worth $400+, or the extra $200 if you discount the price of the bd player.

Considering you say you watch sports, the plasma will be the better display for the motion. I have yet to see any LCD be comparable to a plasma when it comes to sports (hockey in my case)

I agree. I find even the highest end LCD's to be inferior to a good plasma.. but everyones eyes are different.

I've have had my 52850 for little over a month haven't had any problem watching any sports what so every including hockey.
If I could do it all over again I would of still bought the 850 over any other tv.
Not that the panny is bad, it just for my taste I like the samsung.
