This has been aggravating me for sometime. I just got a new DVR from TWC and it doesn't work too well recording programs. If I leave my DVR on for a period of days, then I get these bugs. When I record a program on the guide, it says you can't record more than 2 programs at once, but it shows only 1 (or even none) programs that will record. If I say, record an hour or more of TV then it will auto-erase that program right after it aired. And yes, I have plenty of space too! It's ridiculous that I can't even record a long show overnight, cause these bugs only happen when the DVR is idle. The only solution I have found is to re-boot it, but after awhile it gets annoying.

It must be activating the sleep mode which is why it doesn't want to record. There is a way to disable it. Also check out the Time Warner Cable Navigator thread on this board since it talks about your problems and Navigator in general. I too have a 8300HDC and it's quite reliable.

Haven't found a solution there. A few other bugs when it's idle/sleep mode:
1. When I schedule programs with "All Recordings" and setting it two minutes before and after the program, that it changes back to right on time. Or it will start late and end late.
2. It will not recognize my WD 500GB My Expander and thus can't playback or record to it.
3. I cannot schedule recordings because I can't record 3 at one time even though 1 or 2 are showing up. Sometimes even three of the same program will show up, if I try to record twice after it doesn't.
4. I turn to a channel and for a few seconds, a blue screen pops up saying please wait. Then the channel appears finally.
5. I will get a "This channel is currently not available. Your recording will begin when this channel becomes available" message.
6. It will completely stop recording after a time after midnight, even if I do use it.
