I there an effective and clean way to secure speaker wire around window/door molding.

I was thinking staples, but am afraid of hitting the wire. Also cable tracks would be too much for just a few 16g wires.

screw down zip ties?

I had to do this once in my first house. I bought two sided tape, cut the tap in half, lengthwise down the middle to make it the width of the speaker wire... and stuck in on the wall / wood trim. (I recommend the trim so it doesn't rip off your drywall paper if you try to take it off. Sticks good and looks clean... then paint the wire trim color... if you want.
