I'm looking for a Xbox 360 VGA cable. I've always heard that the official Microsoft brand ones are the ones to get. Unfortunately, everywhere I've seen one, they aren't exactly cheap. So, I started looking for a 360 vga cable on Ebay. Problem with Ebay, is that 99 percent of the 360 VGA cables on there are generic Hong Kong based VGA cables. Now, I'm not saying that these cheapo ones are garbage, but the odds say that more likely than not they aren't that great.

Has anybody bought one of the HK cheapos off Ebay? Did it work ok?

Anybody know of a place that has the official Microsoft cable for super cheap? (like under $19.99)

I probably should call every Gamestop and GameCrazy in my city and find out if any have a used 360 vga cable, and see how much they sell them for.

I bought one and while it did make the Xbox throw a cable error once, it works perfectly and with VERY good picture quality.

First of all, don't call !!! Just use their website and search for used ones in your area. They sell them for about $10. Pretty cheap and great picture.

buy from monoprice.com and be done with it. I have 2 sets and they both work fine.

Although, if you look at the monoprice ones and the reviews, it's got a lot of bad reviews for high resolutions with buyers stating they can see ghosting, which is a bad thing.

I haven't used my monoprice one much, but I do recall seeing ghosting at 1280x1024 in the dashboard. When playing a game (Halo3), though, I didn't really notice any ghosting.

You are best off just paying the extra and getting the MS cable. I went though two cheapies and both had ghosting at 1360 x 768.

The MS one is fine.

if you find a MS official used at gamestop it's the same price as a generic ($10-12).

If you're like me you had an internet buddy grab one for you, gave up on finding a second set for the bedroom and bought the monoprice cable only to realize you get the same picture quality.

I have used 4 different VGA cables and the best has been the official MS , the others ranged from decent to horrible (I no longer have all of them so I do not recall the brands but I think one was purchased from GameCrazy and the other from GameStop , both were under $20 each ) .

I used the one generic brand of VGA cables that people said was okay (Dragon) and they had ghosting at 1360x768. Get the MS cables, they're worth the extra money. I've heard that Monster's cables are also good but they will likely be more expensive.

Thanks for the tip man! I checked Gamestops website and found one at a Gamestop not too far from my work. Picked it up today after getting off work. I have around 20 Gamestops in my area, but this was the only one showing it in stock. For $9.99 used, you can't beat it.
