I know my PS3 is a Hong Kong 80gig NTSC unit and that it does software emulation for backward's compatibility. Would a fighting game such as Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, played through software emulation on the PS3, experience any hangups or slow downs in comparison to being played on a PS2 system?

Next question. I'm planning on purchasing "Capcom vs SNK 2: Millionaire Fighting 2001 & Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future Value Pack" but since my PS3 is from Hong Kong (DVD region code 3) would there be any problem since the game is stated as being Japanese (DVD region code 2)?

I checked w w w . us . playstation . com/Support/CompatibleStatus to see if the above mentioned game can be played by my system but they don't have it listed, I'm guessing since it was only released in Japan they haven't bothered to put it up.

Thanks :)

The PS3 is only region free for PS3 games. PS2 games still have region coding, so you will not be able to play games from other regions.

Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection
Publisher: Capcom
Product No: SLUS-20949
Description: No major problems for this title.

Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Milennium
Publisher: Capcom
Product No: SLUS-20246
Description: No major problems for this title.

I just found this website: w w w .yesasia.com/global/customer-support/products-faqs/0-0-0-hti.980-en/question-answer.html

Right at the bottom there's a note:

NOTE: Despite the above-mentioned differences, the Japanese PS2 and the Asian PS2 are compatible with each other's games. Asian Version PS2 games can be played in a Japanese PS2 and vice-versa.

If they are the same region, you should be fine.
