In-ceilings don't *necessarily* suck. In-ceilings without enclosures suck. While your wife may appreciate the *look* of in-ceilings, she may be thoroughly disappointed by the sound leakage. If the back-bleed of the sound keeps the baby awake,... or she can't sleep while you're watching football,... the aesthetics will be of little concern. The "message" in that link was that architectural speakers *need* enclosures. Sound quality will improve, as will WAF. Craig pdawg17 12-01-08, 12:28 AM In-ceilings don't *necessarily* suck. Craig Thanks...the ceilings are already closed so I would think enclosures would be pretty difficult to put in now (tell me if I'm wrong)...or should I at least try to insulate above the speakers? craig john 12-01-08, 09:57 AM Check these out: http://www.dynamat.com/products_architectural_dynabox.html Craig pdawg17 12-01-08, 08:39 PM Check these out: http://www.dynamat.com/products_architectural_dynabox.html Craig Thanks so much for the link! That seems like a great product...do you have any personal experience with it? craig john 12-01-08, 09:07 PM Thanks so much for the link! That seems like a great product...do you have any personal experience with it? I tried them in a surround speaker set above a dropped acoustical ceiling. Unfortunately they didn't fit, (they require 6.5" of height and I only had 4".) I ended up with enclosed speakers mounted below the ceiling. However, I was impressed by the DynaBox's. They seemed well made and purpose built. If they can work in your room, they will be a significantly helpful addition. Craig |
