Pirates! - brilliant port of the PC classic. Sail the seas, marry, trade, hunt down pirates, manage your crew. It's an open-world sandbox. A must buy IMO, but out of print.

Final Fantasy Tactics/Disgaea - both games are really awesome SRPGs. Can't go wrong with either one.

Castlevania - the first US release of the PC Engine game "Rondo of Blood", generally considered the best Castlevania. It also includes SOTN as an unlockable.

Mega Man Powered Up/Maverick Hunter X - Powered Up is a full remake of the first Mega Man (for the NES), while MHX is a less comprehensive version of Mega Man X (on the SNES). Both are great, but challenging games.

Could not agree more, love that game, I just wish it had the "Hall Of Fame" that keeps all your top scores.

Riiiiidge Racer!

Seriously, that is still one of my favorite PSP games. The controls aren't realistic and the AI is rubber-band, but the car and track selection, soundtrack, and visuals are all great. I had a lot of fun with it, and since it was a launch game it's ridiculously cheap right now.

I'd also recommend Wipeout Pure (or Pulse if yer nasty). Lumines and Disgaea are must-buys if you like those types of games.

surprised no-one has said Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops.Street Fighter Alpha 3 max is a faithful port but some of the special moves can be difficult to pull off with the PSP control nub.

Yes. Everyday Shooter and Super Stardust are no-brainers.
