View Full Version : Video glitches in GTA IV?

So I'm doing some gaming now to demo and get a good feel for this new set I've got - the 52" XBR6. I decided to pop in GTA IV and maybe run a couple of missions and then do my usual "lets do cheats and kill people". Cuz that's how I do.

Today I saw an interesting video glitch, and I'm trying to decide if it's the 360 or my TV, but probably the 360 (I hope - I don't want to drag the 360 to my old TV to test).

Spawn an Annihiliator. Go up fairly high and do the weather cheat until you get to "hazy/cloudy". (It's the one right after rainstorm. Weather cheat is 468-555-0100.) Now assuming you're in 1st person mode just pull back on the stick. On my setup as the nose swung up towards the sky the screen started flashing, like it couldn't handle rendering it. It looks like maybe a glitch/bug in the lighting engine or something - if it's a TV bug it's a pretty odd one.

Has anyone else ever seen this? It happens a little if the 360 is set for 720p, but it it's set to 1080p it's really bad.

One should never be surprised by buggy behavior when messing with developer cheats...

A glitch in a Grand Theft Auto title? I've never heard of such a thing in my life.

But seriously, your TV is fine. If you're really concerned try to replicate it on another game, I'll bet you won't be able to.

Heh. My guess is that it's an issue with the HDR lighting. It's switching back and forth between the two fbs (or whatever they call it in HDR land) due to the color of the sky.
