View Full Version : Calibration is greyed out?

So my friend who claims to be a TV expert said he could fix up my TV settings by using a secret menu (which I even had to google to find out what it was) on my Samsung TV (lns3241d).

He ran the HDMI calibration, and needless to say the image is off now. I googled quickly on how to fix it, and most people agreed that a checkerboard at 720p and then re-calibrating would do the job. I entered the menu with the picture displayed on my screen, and for some reason the "Calibration" option is greyed out, while every other option is showing up in the selectable white.

I don't want to mess around with it anymore than I have to, so does anyone know how I could get back to the HDMI auto-calibration thing?

thanks

edit: I switched HDMI ports, and it's seemingly working. but it won't stop on the right colours. it keeps going on and on.. how long should this take before it stops?

edit 2: took about 5-10 minutes, then it worked. the picture's not perfect, but it's probably about as good as i'll get without paying anything. i plan on getting a new tv in the next little while, so it'll do for now.

ps up yours, jeff. never touch my tv again.

what a great help i got here, haha.

Sounds like your friend should pony up for a calibration!

Many threads in here discussing the very issue of auto calibration in the Samsung.
