I have a 1080i sony Plasma with one DVI connection that I now use for a Blue Ray player I just got. I need to know the best way to connect my Veriz Fios HD cable box? I can use the available component video or I get a HDMI switcher to use HDMI. Obviously the only issue is the Video because I use DVI to HDMI cable and thus audio is not via the HDMI. Will the video be better from an HD cable Box to 1080i plasma using Component Video or using an HDMI switcher, and if HDMI switcher is best will a switcher result in loss of any video quailty on my Blue Ray. I already have all the necessary cables for either, I will have to purchase a switcher if that is best( I have seen several switchers at very reasonable prices some as low as $20) so cost is not an issue, unless only the high end Switchers will result in the better video.

Please advise thanks

Since you have both cables, compare the HDMI signal to that with component and see if there's any difference. HDMI is theoretically better since it's digital, but the difference between it and analog component may not be visible on the screen.
