Hello all, I am putting together a HT system based around a Panasonic PT-AX200U projector.

I was previously considering going the 1080P route with Blu-ray, but the costs just were more than I can handle right now. So the above projector is much more affordable, and I'm assuming there is no need to go Blu-ray, so a regular ol' DVD player should suffice.

So where to start? I have a good AV receiver, but it is a couple years old with no HDMI inputs, does that change anything?

Do I get a good player for $100?

Thanks for the help.

If you want a standard definition player, a refurbished Oppo 980 is just a bit more (around $120? Contact Oppo and ask).

Blu-Ray would get you a high definition source for your high definition display, so I would not give up on that so quickly. There are some good prices now. See the Blu-Ray player forum for suggestions.

Would you consider a refurbished Marantz at accessories4less.com?
The Marantz 4600 is @ $70 (no HDMI). The Onkyo 405 is $50.
