I just bought this recorder from BB for a gift ($129 seems a very good price), I'd like to buy some disks for her. Are these Verbatim compatable with Toshiba recorders (particularly this one)? This also seems to be a good price.

Edit: My bad, these are CD-R, not DVD-R. I searched DVD-R and these came up... I thought it was too good to be true.
No, those are CDs for music.
Here are two of the best DVDs you can get, one with white coating that can be printed on with inkjet printers:
Taiyo Yuden Premium Silver Lacquer 8X (http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-silver-thermal-8x-dvd-r-media.html)
Taiyo Yuden Premium White Inkjet Hub-Printable 8X (Tape Wrapped) (http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-white-inkjet-printable-8x-dvd-r-media.html)
Same except in retail box. (http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-white-inkjet-hub-printable-8x-dvd-r-media-retail-cake-box.html)

Ty's are the best but Verbatims also have a following and are available B&M at various places. Since your machine is probably Funai built I'd probably suggest the + media even though it will burn both types. I believe the + format is more native to Funai built machines.
If you have a Sams near you and you're a member I was just at one today and they still had the 50 spindle of Verb R discs for $11. Quite a good deal IMO.
Thanks for the info! Just bought the TY's through Amazon, $4 cheaper than from the Supermediastore site (even though they are SM Store items). Bought 100 for me and 100 as the gift. Also a good deal there on 104 CD/DVD Disc Wallet ($12.46 ea.)... good place to put those 100 DVD's.
Good deal if they are Premium Line rather than Value Line (which are still good discs but don't merit the "Premium" branding).
Doesn't say "Premium" at Amazon, but has the same mfg. part number (DVD-R47ZZ100SB8) as the link you sent that says "premium", so my guess is they're the same. Thanks!!!

I just purchased a new Toshiba D-VR610 unit from BestBuy yesterday ($161.49), will be delivered on tuesday.
I'm looking forward to seeing how well this unit transfers (old) VHS material to DVD-R.
On paper this unit looks good.
