Hi,

I've got a Sony KV-XJ29M31 29" 4:3 TV, which is hooked up to my digital set top box. Since most of our channels are broadcast at 16:9, I've set the settop box to output in 16:9 to the TV, and set the TV to Wide mode.

Trouble is, every time I turn the TV on it has reset itself to 4:3, and I have to go into the menu and switch back to Wide.

I've had a look through the Service codes, and can't find anything resembling Default Aspect Ratio. Does anyone know how to set this?

Many thanks
Chris

This is something cheap universal remotes are good for. Invest the $15-25 for macro capability.

If a menu "rolls" back to the top while the down button is pressed over and over, that's your cue that things may be usefully automated without the remote having memorized the last button you pushed.

My TV does what yours does with SD input, but a single macro button switches it back and forth in about two seconds. Acceptable?

Ahh, yeah, might be my best bet.

I was surprised to see the wide mode not being remembered, as it remembers everything else in the menu's (picture, colour, contrast, etc). Its a really simple menu... just cycles through a bunch of standard settings at the bottom of screen, and another button toggles.
