View Full Version : The pain of having to choose a 37" screen

I've noticed that all the most interesting brands have lowers specs for all their 37" LCD models. The Samsung 650 model is a nice example of this : the 40" is 50.000:1 (Super Clear Panel), while the 37" dips to 15.000:1 (Clear Panel?) for contrast value.

I'd like to have some insight in this. Why is this? What is so different about that 37" size? It puzzles me completely. I would think that 37" tv's get sold more often than 52" tv's because of size/budget constraints.

Any ideas?

The smaller panels are most likely made on older production lines with older technologies. The newer production lines are designed to make larger panels.

Davy,

I can't answer "why", but the better panels and processors are limited to the 40 inch and larger sizes.

http://www.hdtvsolutions.com/37-inch_LCD_HDTV_Roundup.htm is a pretty good look at what is currently available in that size.
