So last night I thought I'd stick in Drake's Fortune as I haven't played it in months. It informs me a software update is required so I download and install. (this is the trophy patch I believe). Now the game won't load. I tried uninstalling the update and all data files, but it still doesn't work. All that happens is the gold shield keeps spinning in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and nothing starts. I found one short thread here of others with the same problem and the only advice was to reformat the PS3 harddrive. That seems drastic to me. Any other fixes or ideas?

Erase the game data and save data, which after the update mean nothing, since you have begin the game all over again to get the trophies support. Try that out and see how it goes.

You shouldn't have to erase save data.

Just erase the game data. I think this happened to a few people and that solved it.

I erased both and it still won't load....just spins the sheild....this blows

Try deleting the patch, then redownload it. I had this happen to me in Motorstorm. If you already did this check the disc. I know it sounds silly but I had a game that kept freezing,upon looking at the disc I had a fingerprint on it. Felt silly but my game worked.

Funny, the simple solution turned out to be the right one. Cleaned the disc of a few fingerprints, and it loaded up like a champ. Thanks to all for the responses.
