Rookie here. I am buying an LCD TV, av receiver and bluray player. How many HDMI cables do I need and is that all of the connector cables I will need (other than speaker wires, of course)?

You will need 3 HDMI cables. That should be all the cables you need. One from cable box to the Onkyo TX-SR705. One from the DVD player to the Onkyo TX-SR705. One from the Onkyo TX-SR705 to the TV.

Thanks HDMI Guy! One more thing. I don't have a cable "box". It's just a coaxial cable.Then you just need two HDMI cables: one from the DVD player to the Onkyo and one from the Onkyo to the TV. If you want surround sound from the cable signal through the Onkyo then you will need an audio cable (optical if the TV has an optical audio output) from the TV to the Onkyo.
