Im having difficulty with no display while am trying to do this:

Connecting my SA 8300HD S-Video out to Toshiba D-R400 in, from D-R400 to my Sony KDL1400. The SA 8300 is also connected directly to the Sony HDTV through HDMI and the Toshiba DVD recorder directly to the tv through HDMI.

Now here is my problem:

I get the error message, this input source cannot be displayed through a DV input when I try to watch a cable channel through the Toshiba D-R400. Why am I trying that, coz I want to see what am recording or to even set up a recording on the DVD recorder.

I called Time Warner cable and they told me that when HDMI output is active on 8300HD it takes over from all other output sources. bummer...

I know I wont have this problem if D-R400 had a tuner or a coax input.. it doesnt, it has 3 line-ins, 2 composite, 1 svideo and 1 dv.

How can I get this to work or do i have to switch to component cables instead of HDMI on the 8300 HD? In that case I wont be getting 1080p quality pic on my tv? is there anything else i can do on the Toshiba to get the picture..??
