I'm using mediatomb to stream .vob's to my ps3 ( 2.53). The vob's are ripped from a dvd. When I play the dvd directly in the ps3 it looks fine. But when the vob streams to the ps3 it shows in a widescreen aspect ratio, but with black bars on the sides as well as the top and bottom.

Why? Do I need to do some transcode magic with the vob files? Is there a magic ps3 option?

press tirangle and go to the display options, select widescreen instead of auto.

How does the picture quality compare on the stream versus the burned dvd? I've been meaning to test this for awhile but figured I'd have to re-encode all my vobs beforehand.

Cool, I've been out of the loop for a while and didn't even know you could stream VOBs to a PS3. Either that or I just haven't been paying attention. Been more focused on making a HTPC for my movies and TV.

I ripped a vob from a movie as well and am getting the bars. However, I found a vob file of the "I Am Legend" trailer and it streams in the correct format. I understand I can turn "zoom" on but the resolution seems sub-par. Anybody have any info on how to get the VOBs I am ripping to be of the proper format?
