I am looking for a DVD/VCR combo recorder player that has a digital tuner and timer programming that is 1 year/8 event....not interested in any that do 1 month as that is useless (useless because if you record the same show 5 days a week then after 1 month you have to program it to record again)...can anyone help...I have looked at JVC, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Phillips and LG...NONE of these appear to offer this...but to be sure I have emailed them all asking this same question...
On Panasonics for sure and I would think others you can use weekly or daily events and they stay programmed until you remove them. They don't drop off after 30 days. I use weekly events all winter long and never have to reenter them. I would other brands would be the same, but I'm most familiar with Pannys. AFA programming in actual dates I think 1 month is the furthest but I mostly use weekly events.
The Panny combos would be EA-38 without a tuner and EZ-48 with a digital tuner.
Not combos, but click my signature for two units with 160GB HDDs, NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuners, and 36 timer rec slots.
Most of today's DVDRs with a HDD have timer programs that cover 1 month, but also allow M-F or other repeating shows, which don't have to be rescheduled after a month... they just keep going.
The month's restriction only applies to the unit's HDD space, i.e., it calculates all the timer program record times you've got scheduled for the next month and, if more than the HDD will hold in that month, it tells you you're only covered until X date BUT ONLY if you don't delete any titles that it records.
SO... as you watch and delete titles from the HDD, the machine calculates a new date when the HDD will be filled up and no more shows can be recorded... an endless loop.
