Back in 2004 I bought a Samsung DLP which did not come with a digital tuner. I bought an LG tuner that I use to get OTA stations.

Recently I added basic cable. My newer LCD TV which has built-in digital tuner with QAM picked up all the digital channels and the analog channels with no problem. My old LG tuner, on the other hand, only manages to pick up the analog channels, I assume the problem is that this 4 1/2 year-old receiver does not have a QAM tuner. I looked around and am having a hard time finding standalone tuners, much less with QAM; the only one I found so far is made by some company named PHD which I have never heard of. What I like to find is a tuner with ATSC and QAM and component output that I can use with my DLP. Any ideas who makes one that works decently well? Thank you.

The Samsung DTBH260F has both ATSC and QAM tuners but you have to use one or the other not both. Contemporary Research does have a tuner that has separate inputs for cable and antenna but the unit is very expensive.
