Guys, I did a big remodeling in my house, with a setup, where all my equipment will be in my office, so I would have a very clean setup where the TV is located. The problem is that I run a 50' HDMi cable that used to work perfect since I tested but one connector went bad.

I can't ran another cable, I did ran back up cables, (Components, COax, Cat5, Speakers, and VGA) but I did not ran a extra HDMI cable.... see pictures for the cables that I ran, and why i can't run another cable.

I know one connector is bad, I keep thinking that someone can fix it but the more I research the less chances there are of that being true.

Please anybody have any ideas!!! I know the COMPONENTS are good, but it is only 1080i and I want 1080p...

Any help,

thanks,

Wow, that really sucks. It's too bad you can't just splice a new connector on like you can with most other cables. Gefen makes a product that may work for your situation but it's very expensive at MSRP $549. It will support 1080p up to 150' and 1080i up to 300'. Here is a link for the product.

I know you want 1080p but if it were me I'd just go with component cables and wait for an affordable wireless solution. It shouldn't be more than a year or two until they are widely available.

If you can do some very careful soldering (or know someone who's an experienced solderer) you may be able to attach an HDMI solder connector such as at the bottom of this page http://www.pacificcable.com/More_Pages/HDMI_Cables/HDMI-Repair-Kit.html to the cable. You have to make each wire is as close to the same length as possible to avoid signal skew between wires.

One problem, of course is determining which connector is bad.

Here's a device similar to the Gefen's for considerably less http://www.outdoorspeakerdepot.com/caexforhd.html.

You might want to try one of the Monoprice "port savers" I had a similar issue and for some reason the "port savers" fixed the problem. I think the reason that it worked is that the "port savers" make a very snug connection and picked up the signal from all 19 connectors that HDMI uses. It might have just been luck but it worked for me.

That sucks. This is why I ALWAYS recommend conduit AND extra cat6 cables so you can at least do HDMI baluns.

Since you have cat there, you could try an HDMI balun, that may end up being cheaper than tearing up the walls again.

What ended up working? I have a problem with my setup and its almost like yours.

The HDMI connector that was connected to the Reciever was smashed while pluged in. Don't ask, I felt sick after watching bend 90 degress. Both connectors Male and female need to be replaced. I have replaced the board in the receiver thanks to Pioneer parts, but now to the cable. I have about 8 feet of slack to play with in the reciever side of things. Its a 22awg wire, which is making it hard to find a replacement connector.

One thing I was thinking of was to use the HDMI over cat 5 but use the HDMI cable as the meduim between. Since cat 6 is usally 22-24 awg the punch down cat 5 externders seem feasable made by tripplite.

I did notice in the UK they make terminal strip to HDMI, but cost a fortune to get in the states.

Any other ideas?
