From what it looks like this is specific to the Mits DLP's that have TVGOS.

In the TV menu under Netcommand there is a entry labeled 'Guide'. This turns on and off the TVGOS, sets the inputs and your ZipCode. Since Mits isn't sold in Canada, there is only provision for a ZipCode, no ability to enter letters for a Canadian Postal Code. But, in the TVGOS opening setup menu, there still is the choice of USA or Canada.

Under the service bar in the Setup tab there should be three listings. The 1st is 'Change system settings' (or words to that effect). On mine there isn't which prevents accessing the diagnostics screens, hence a problem.

I've done a full 'Initialization' twice, but the listings screen is blank with the message "No data for this screen". The only other 'reset' is a "Factory Restore" that will wipe out all calibration data in the service menu on top of everything else. I sort of doubt that would change anything and would be a last resort.

This TV menu entry that interfaces with the TVGOS menu under NetCommand has the TVGOS on, both RF inputs checked and my zip code. The set was left off for a day, but no change.

I contacted Mits, got past the outsourced CSR and now I'm waiting for a call back from a "Product Specialist".

FWIW, I have the Sony DVR and the TVGOS is ok. Glitches here and there, but good for the most part. This appears to be a possible hardware or firmware issue.

Input?

Attached are three screen shots.

1. The TVGOS setup menu without the 'Change system settings' screen,
2. The same screen as the way it should look. (shot taken from another device),
3. The Mits initial setup screen that replaces the TVGOS 'Welcome' screens (not my zip code). Notice there is no ability to enter a Canadian Postal Code though it is still in the TVGOS menu if that missing tab was there.

There is no Change System Settings anymore because I don't have a Host Channel. Appears you must have a host channel before you get that selection. You can still enter valid TVGOS codes though.

You only have two entries under setup?
Yes, I can still enter codes (thank goodness) even without that 1st entry, which was a surprise as I assumed that was the line where the codes were entered. Not so. Any entry in the "Setup" list. All I have now is "No data for this screen" under any of the Menu categories.

As I posted in the xx732 thread, after xx number of calls to California (not India or wherever their farmed out support is) they are sending me a firmware update that addresses these issues (after specifically asking what issues this firmware addresses);

1. Fixes "Invalid Host Certificate" error message using "M" cards (that new version of a CC)
2. Fixes "TVGOS data can not be decoded" through a digital channel.

I still believe the system got 'corupted' through numerous Canadian Postal codes changes to access the data from the CTV affilate in Toronto CFTO. That was under the assumption, this set wouldn't be able to deal with a digital channel supplying this data stream as stated in the service manual and by Macrovision. Also, the CBS affilate's corporate owner, Lin, is refusing to cut a deal with Macrovision in spite of the fact they are a CBS affilate.

Too bad it doesn't address the old "analog cropping issue" that still haunts all of these sets. The same issue I personelly asked four different owners if the issue was corrected from '05 to '06 and was told it was.:mad:

Guess most of Mits owners need glasses How can one not see these issues.
