View Full Version : Best Place To Buy A 42" Panasonic 800u ????
Video Master 12-06-08, 06:25 AM Best Place To Buy A 42" Panasonic 800u ????
I want this tv but I don't think the $700 difference in price from the next down 85u is worth it. If you have a 42 800u how much did you pay for it, and do you know the cheapest most reliable place to buy one???
Also, why is the 46" 800u being sold for less than the 42"???
RobbyTV 12-06-08, 06:48 AM the 800U have a flicker issue.
so I would wait for the 2009 models. ;)

Check out ClevelandPlasma dot com. The 46PZ800U is a great deal!
The "flicker issue" is only an issue in some limited situations when watching some DVDs and is not a problem for 99% of Panny owners. Read up on it before giving up on the current models.
New Panasonics typically start debuting around March or April, with the higher end models following a few months later.

I saw the deal on Cleveland plasma and once you add in the shipping it comes out to $1700. Not so great bud. I'm looking to spend $1,300 at the most how about it bud?

Looks like you got a champagne taste with a beer budget.
Try Abe's of Maine or butterfly photo

the best I have seen is $1400 shipped.

Not really, just don't want to spend $700 for a THX mode got it bud?
Bill1313 12-06-08, 11:37 AM If I'm not mistaken the 42" PZ800 is discontinued & was one of the first models that Panny discountinued this year. I'm guessing that they din't sell very well because of what they were asking for them compared to the 46" or 50" models or even the 42" PZ85.
It almost seemed that the 42" PZ800 turned into a speciality model for people who could'nt fit a bigger tv into their room, just wanted a "THX" set, or one with better Sound Quality for the bedroom.
As far as waiting till next year, you may not see a Top-Of-The-Line 42" model again from Panasonic seeing they din't do very well at all with them this year & I know if I was Panny the "Best" 42" model would be a Middle-Of-The-Line Model next year but with better Sound Quality because people just don't seem to want to spend a lot of money on a 42" tv.
I do hope I'm wrong though & I was disapointed when Pioneer decided to drop 42" models completely. So if you want one I would jump on a 42" PZ800 now while there still available.

Yes I'm aware that Panny dropped the production of the 42 incher bud, so why havent the prices gone down? I can see why they didn't sell. You can get an 80u for $799 so who really wanted to pay $1,000 more for a THX mode what do you say dere bud?
Bill1313 12-06-08, 01:13 PM The reason the prices probably haven't dropped much is because it's really turned into a "Sepciality Model" & dealers know there are people out there that will pay for a loaded 42" inch model plus I guessing dealers paid Panny top dpllar for the set compared to the other models that had a price drop. Crutchfield, com still wants $1,999.99 for the PZ800 & I'll bet even if they drop the price it won't be very much at all.
Just think on this forum alone how may people have bought a 42" PZ800 or even want one & we are people who enjoy our tvs & etc.
In March I bought my daughter the 42" PZ700 & I was after that model for her not so much for the Picture Quality but for the Sound Quality because I knew in her bedroom where the set was going it would never be hooked up to a Surround Sound System.
So as I said above, If you want one I would grab one before they are all gone because people will be paying top dollar for them especially if Panny discontinues a top 42" model for next year.
I was lucky because I got in on the PZ700 Costco deal last year that was under $1,100 but that was also the first year for 1080p models & Panny made a ton of the 42" models that they got stuck with so this year they din't make as many PZ800's & even discontinued them so I don't think your going to find a deal like that again unless it's from some outfit that's going out of business?
