I just can't find the answer in any other thread, so please forgive me if this has been asked answered.
I want to take 3 HD sources:
- DVR
- Sony Blu-Ray (350)
- Mac Mini (future or other computer with HDMI adapter)
I want to send the output simultaneously to 2 LCD TVs and 1 projector. All three of them only have one HDMI input. Hence the need for a switch. I want to send a 720p signal to all three hence the need for a splitter. I currently have a 2 way HDMI splitter from firefold that works perfectly. But now i need 3 outputs. Anyway: was thinking about a Monoprice 4x1 switch (model 4066) plus a Monoprice 4x1 splitter (model 5069). I know that they all have to run at the same resolution, but since they are all 720p I don't think that's a problem.
Will this arrangement work or are there problems?
TIA,
Jay W

Not a lot of input so I'm going to try this out. I just ordered from Monoprice a 5069 1X4 Powered HDMI Splitter and the 4088 4x1 Powered Switch.
When I get them in and tested I'll post my results here in hopes that it might prove helpful to someone else at some point.

JayW,
I have almost the exact same configuration at my house. I will be ordering one each of the 1x2 Monoprice 5068 and one of the 1x4 Monoprice 5069 splitters today.
I also have a few other components in the mix that I will try splitting - Onkyo receiver, PS3, MacBook Pro, etc.
I look forward to hearing how it works out for you.

So I finally got everything in and installed. The Blu-Ray works fine through the switch and splitter. The Motorola FiOS TV DVR won't work right above 480p. When you switch to 720p all TVs flash between the picture/green screen/"static".
Anyone have any ideas before I return the 5069? My old 2x1 Firefold HDMI splitter works fine, but is one output short. :(
Yesterday, I spent about 30 minutes working with Tier 1 and Tier 3 technical support folks with Monoprice. Nothing helped. The conclusion was that "HDMI is tempermental and sometimes things just don't work out."
OK. So before packing everything back up to send to Monoprice I thought I would check the cable connections again. As I looked at my seven different HDMI cables that made up the mess that was connected to the switch and the splitter one cable stood out. It was the six foot Monster cable from the DVR to the switch. Now, it was one of the first HDMI cables that I bought and I got it for about $20 from Sams Club back a few years ago. It was not only the thinnest cable, but the only one without RF chokes on it. On a lark I changed it out with a cheap six footer from Monoprice that I had ordered "just in case." Voila! Everything works. I have never been a fan of Monster and generally avoid their products, but made an exception because I was in a hurry and they had 'em at Sams. Monster Cables are not only expensive, but they are "cheap" too.
All is well now and I'm a happy camper. Merry Christmas!

Glad you got it to work, I had the same problem and just gave up. Now I will try switching out the cables, thanks for the info.
