I have a Hitachi cmp5000 that recently popped when trying to power on. Now the power light blinks red 5 times. No picture sound or fans. I have looked all over for what five red flashes mean. Can anyone help?

Can someone tell me how much it will cost to have a repairman tell me? This monitor is no longer made and out of warranty. I do not have 1500+ dollars to replace it. I am hoping it can be repaired for a few hundred or less. Quillers17 12-07-08, 04:21 PM i'm guessing it's a power supply gone bad.. (just a guess) but with labor and parts.. your prolly gonna be around $500...maybe filtor 12-07-08, 04:34 PM The flash code would probably be in a service manual - you may try calling customer tech support...? cbrou 12-07-08, 11:33 PM Thanks all. I have been trying to find someone with a service manual. If I can get it repaired for 500 I would go that route. i just do not want to pay a few hundred for an estimate and then have it come back at 1000. For that I can start looking at a new one. lilbaggie 02-04-09, 11:23 AM your Hitachi is a rebadged Pioneer 503CMX. they have known power supply failures and Pioneer replaces the power supply with an upgraded one even out of warranty but only on the Pioneer models. i had it happen to me on my 433CMX (the 43 inch version of the same plasma). the upgraded power supply runs about $334 from Pioneer: part number AXX1064 i watched the tech and it's a relatively simple job (pop off the back, take out the old unit, swap in the new) but sometimes when the power supply goes, it takes out other modules with it, which from what i understand can get very expensive, very quickly. given how much cheaper plasmas are now and that it's a 3rd gen Pioneer and Pioneer is on it's 9th, not sure it's worth the expense... |
