Hey guys, I checked out other threads about this device, but didn't see anything about this. I bought this on the recommendation from you all that this would virtually be the only way to get already recorded high def stuff off my cable provided DVR.

The Arcsoft software is okay, but I've noticed even at very high bitrates there is some compression. I was wondering if anyone uses alternative software with this device? If so, which do you recommend?

Trying to get the highest quality possible, so I may edit it and burn it to Blu-Ray. Thanks a million!

Go to the HDPC section and check the 2 threads there. Three threads if you have a Mac. You will find more than you ever wanted to know regarding alternative software. In my case I use the TMC capture software set at the highest constant bitrate (13.5 mbps). Compared the capture to the source using the HDNet test patterns and couldn't see a different in PQ.

Ah thanks, sorry for posting in the wrong forum. Thought this fell more into the HDTV recorder section. Thank you!
