I have several older CRT tube sets, and while I know that most are 480i (480 interlaced vertical lines) that doesn't help me in determining the HORIZONTAL resolution. I have heard that many sets have 640 horizontal lines but many are higher and some are lower--how can I go about finding out the actual resolution of my sets? I have looked at the owners manual but there is no information in it.

The reason I ask is because I can tell that many of my sources sides are cut off by the overscan on the sides, which is annoying, and my will not allow me to adjust the size of the horizontal picture, just the vertical picture. Which leads me to believe that my horizontal resolution is around 570 or so lines.

SD sets generally have a vertical resolution of 480 interlaced horizontal lines.
